Action Packed New ‘Blade Runner 2049’ TV Spot Has Got “Every Gun in the City” (VIDEO)

Cerebral sci-fi seems to have gone the way of the dodo, but last year's Arrival proved that there is room in the marketplace for a genre picture that actually treats its audience like they have a fully functioning brain. It's fitting, then, that Arrival's director Denis Villeneuve was tapped to direct the follow-up to Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, as that film valued philosophical discussions more than shoot-em-up chase sequences.

Almost as if a reminder that the original film also included some whiz-bang action set-pieces in between all that pontificating, this new TV spot for Blade Runner 2049 puts action front and center. That's all well and good, but the first two trailers for the film have kept the action on the back burner, for the most part. I know that commerce demands that they sell this thing utilizing the stuff that people like, but I hope this isn't gonna trade in all of its big ideas for big action set-pieces.

At the same time, if I'm forced to choose between watching Dave Bautista toss Baby Goose through glass panels or listening to Jared Leto drone on about god knows what while using another stupid voice affectation, bring on the glass paneling! Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6.
