Thor: Ragnarok finally hits North American theaters this weekend—I've got tickets for Sunday morning—and anticipation for the Marvel threequel is at an all-time high. The reviews are almost universally, overwhelmingly positive with the only major complaint being that it's almost too funny for a Marvel movie.
That's a bunch of hogwash. If you're actively complaining that a Thor movie is too funny, you need to get your priorities together. What I wouldn't give for some levity in the comic book world outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and it seems as if levity has arrived in the form of a big Australian hunk who wields a magic hammer. Who'd have guessed?
Seriously, though, I'm more excited about this flick than I am about Justice League—which I also have Sunday morning tickets for in two weeks. I know I'm gonna have a great time watching this new Thor movie, but Justice League, yeah, I don't know. They claim it's funnier and lighter, but that remains to be seen. Thor: Ragnarok—which opened with over $100 million this weekend overseas—hits North American theaters beginning this Thursday night, November 2.
